Tinker List

2013/11/10 My remote door opener for my fine 2006 Buick LaCross was acting erratic. Upon inspection, and poking around inside the fob, I came to the conclusion that the little contact points on the "rubber thingy" no longer had enough free electrons to make the connections. I took a piece of white paper and fashioned a piece to match the inside of the fob, and with a Number 2 pencil I made dark circles at the places where the contacts were located. The graphite in the pencil made the contact and it worked for a week or so till I got to and Auto Zone and replaced the "rubber thingy".

2011/08/07 Purchased a doorbell extender, which is activated by a microphone, with a two second conterminous audio send demand. I wanted it to be a press and send so "Sweet Thing" could call me from the other end of the house. To convert it to a push button, I drilled (Using a modified ratchet screw driver bit sharpened on opposite side similar to a drill, I need to pursue this and modify some drills with the screw driver locking tip welded to the drill bit, have a drill in your ratchet screw driver)a hole thru the case directly above the "test" button to the diameter of a plastic screw's shaft, from a rain bird sprinkler, the the head had to be shortened and the shaft cut short and both smoothed. The 'test" button had a spring in it and it raised the modified 'button screw" back up in position to be pushed the next time. Works marvelously.

1961 Repaired Heater motor in a Renault. Used homemade springs and brushes from the printing machine at Greenville Steel. Harold Stephens was witness.

Improved Sudoku number.

The Sudoku fall like leaves. I found a boo-boo in my Excel spreadsheet.
86 finished! What shall I do when I have perfected the Sudoku solver?
What shall I do? The quandry of 5/8, 5/8, 5/7.
The 5/7 can't be 5, that would gives two eights, so the answer must be seven.
Will me and excel ever solve this?
The sheet has some other problems also. You get two blocks with all the numbers gone. This use to be rare, but is occurring more frequently. It's going bad as improvements are made. You have 1 puzzle, with 9 big blocks, which each has 9 number possibilities, solvable by up, down or left right, the number of possibilities is ginormous!!!!

Improve Medical Vials

I load the five syringes needs daily. They are filled with Novalog(Orange) or Lantus(Purple). The vials are the same size and made of clear glass. The labels have a small colored line to help identify which medicine is which. Very hard to distinguish. The use and dosage the two drugs is VERY different. I went to the local "Five and Dime named Wilsons" and bought orange and purple balloons. I cut the heavy ring that is at inflation holes off the balloons and slid two of them on each vial to help identify which is which. They further serve as a better way to hold the vials as they improve the grip. They are removable and I change them each time a new vial is opened. The manufacture could do more to label these for better identification.
